How to Set-up Java Development Kit (JDK)

You can download the newest version of Java JDK from Official Oracle’s Java Website Download JDK Here . You’ll notice the instructions for installing in JDK in downloaded files, follow the given directions to put in and tack the setup. Finally set PATH and JAVA_HOME environment variables to refer to the directory that contains java and javac, generally java_install_dir/bin and java_install_dir severally.

if your are working on windows and installed the Java Development Kit in Path C:\jdk1.6.0_15, you will have to put the following commands in your .bat file C:\autoexec.bat

set PATH=C:\jdk1.7.0_75\bin;%PATH%

set JAVA_HOME=C:\jdk1.7.0_75

 

another method that you can also use is to right click on My Computer Move Cursor to Properties and Select It, then  select Advanced and then Environment, After that you can update the PATH value And Finally Select OK button

For Linux Users, If the SDK is Installed on this path /usr/local/jdk1.6.0_15  and you would use the C shell and have to put the following commands into your .cshrc file

setenv PATH /usr/local/jdk1.7.0_75/bin:$PATH
setenv JAVA_HOME /usr/local/jdk1.7.0_75
